BroncoAlert is a phone and text-based system allowing the university to proactively notify students, faculty and staff when an emergency is taking place on or near campus. BroncoAlert will only be used in critical situations, including weather emergencies, with potential to affect health or safety.
Students will automatically receive an e-mail in their BroncoMail account. Boise State will only activate the system in the event of an immediate threat to safety, or in a serious emergency. All personal information submitted remains private.
Faculty and Staff
When the university initiates an emergency message, the BroncoAlert system will send an automated voice message to campus office lines, call university reimbursed cell phones, and send an e-mail message to university e-mail accounts.

BroncoAlert subscribers can expect timely warnings upon the confirmation of a significant emergency or dangerous situation involving an immediate threat to the health or safety of students or employees occurring on the campus. Notifications may include important, up to the minute information on where to go, where not to go, and what actions to take.
All students, faculty and staff are encouraged to opt-in with their personal contact information. Participation is voluntary, but as it may prove to be the most direct way to reach individuals during a campus emergency, everyone on campus is strongly urged to allow transmissions to any or all of the following means of personal communication:
- Personal cell phone number
- Text messaging
- Personal e-mail
- Home telephone
Enrollment is free, however, mobile service providers may charge a message fee for phone plans that do not cover text messaging; consult individual carrier for details.
The BroncoAlert emergency notification system is administered by members of Boise State’s Emergency Response Team. To provide this service, the university has contracted with Send Word Now, a mass notification provider working with universities nationwide to support emergency communications plans.
