Treasure Valley
families will have an opportunity to attend a free presentation with Jamie
Hyneman and Adam Savage, the hosts of the Discovery Channel’s “MythBusters”
weekly television series, at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 25, in the Taco Bell Arena at
Boise State University.
The College of Engineering at Boise State, along with a number of corporate
sponsors, is presenting the event as part of the college’s yearlong 10th year
anniversary celebration and National Engineer’s Week.
Although the “MythBusters” event is free, attendees must have a ticket to
attend; information on where to obtain the complimentary tickets will be
released later this month, event organizers said.
Since “MythBusters” first premiered on the Discovery Channel in January 2003,
millions of households have tuned in each week to watch the cast and crew build
amazing contraptions which they frequently destroy in the process of confirming
or busting a wide variety of urban myths, folklore and legends.
“I can’t think of better amazing ambassadors to reach out to students with the
message that engineering is fun and fascinating,” said Cheryl Schrader, dean of
the College of Engineering at Boise State.
The multi-media event will include a lecture featuring Savage and Hyneman, a
video of “bloopers” from the show, and an opportunity for audience members to
ask questions.
Along with Boise State's College of Engineering, the "MythBusters" presentation
is sponsored by the Micron Technology Foundation, Albertsons/SuperValu
Foundation, Washington Group International, Hewlett-Packard, Idaho Power Co.,
Power Engineers and HDR engineering.
