Meet Pleo's Dad at Boise State's Creativity Workshop
Caleb Chung, world-famous toy designer and inventor of “Pleo,” the robotic
dinosaur, will be the featured speaker at Boise State University’s annual
creativity workshop on Tuesday, Jan. 29.
Chung co-invented the 1998 hot toy of the year, the Furby, which sold more
than 50 million worldwide and generated about $1.2 billion in sales. He is
the founder of UGOBE, a company focused on creating lifelike robotic
creatures that “blur the line between technology and life.” UGOBE comes from
the company’s motto “You! Go and be!”
The creativity workshop runs from 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Capital City
Development Corp. office, 805 W. Idaho, Suite 403. Chung will speak during
lunch. The morning session will be led by Art Gogatz, author of “Business
Creativity: Breaking the Invisible Barriers.” Gogatz has given seminar and
university courses on creativity and innovation in more than 16 countries.
“This should be a treat for anyone interested in creativity and innovation,
particularly for entrepreneurs in our business community,” said Nancy
Napier, director of Boise State’s Centre for Creativity and Innovation.
