Boise State University Offers Intensive, Week-Long Strategic
Experience Course in Sun Valley
The Center for Professional Development at Boise State University will offer
“The Strategic Experience: A Program for Management Development,” a one-week
residential leadership development program for high potential managers and
leaders, May 12-17 in Sun Valley. Registrations are now being accepted.
The course is offered once a year in May and is designed for managers who
want or need to develop a broader-based understanding of the different
business functions and how they work together. Past participants have held a
variety of positions, including functional department manager, engineering
or technical manager, production and operations manager, top administrator
and leader in government or non-profits.
Participants will gain insight into the interdependence of the various
organizational functions, grasp the critical changes that affect today’s
business environment, practice business decision-making, examine their own
management and leadership strategies and network with other participants and
faculty. Those who have attended past sessions have said they highly valued
feedback they received from training sessions and business simulation
activities.
“BSU’s program for management development provided our company with timely,
relevant management and leadership training that I have been able to use
extensively,” said past participant Dean Park, president of Biomark Inc.
“This program teaches knowledge that is more than academic — it can be
applied.”
Topics include strategies for becoming a better manager, financial
forecasting and budgeting, ethics, marketing, financial performance, the
power of teams, negotiation and more. A session on creating lean operations
and streamlined supply chains has been added at the request of past
participants. Content is delivered through engaging discussion, exercises
and a Web-based business simulation.
The program fee is $4,495 and includes a private room at the Sun Valley
Lodge for the week, most meals and all instructional materials. This
accelerated, affordable training provides the opportunity to engage with
nationally renowned faculty. Registrations are due by April 18. Complete
applications and full fee payment received before April 4 qualify for a $300
discount.
