Boise Jazz Society Presents Hoenig-Pilc Project, Free Workshops and Concerts at Boise State University

The Boise Jazz Society and the Boise State University Department of Music are hosting a series of events built around a visit by the Hoenig Pilc Project, featuring pianist Jean-Michel Pilc, percussionist Ari Hoenig and bassist Hans Glawischnig.

Events include:

• Community Jazz Symposium presented by the Boise Jazz Society, where the musicians of the Hoenig Pilc Project will explain their music to the audience. 4 p.m. Feb. 3, Esther Simplot Performing Arts Academy Lobby. Free.

• Hoenig Pilc Project concert. 7:30-10 p.m. Feb. 3, Esther Simplot Performing Arts Academy Lobby. $35 by contacting professor Michael Samball at 426-3498 or msamball@boisestate.edu

• Workshop Residency with the Hoenig Pilc Project, presented by the Boise State Department of Music. All events are free and open to the public.

- Session One: Modern Music and Jazz Workshop. 10:40-11:30 a.m. Feb. 4. Room TBA, Morrison Center. A discussion of the state of music in the world today with Boise State music history, theory, composition and jazz improvisation students.
- Session Two: Hoenig Pilc Project in a Special Concert Class. 2:40-3:30 p.m. Feb. 4. Morrison Center Recital Hall. The musicians will give a live performance for Boise State music majors and the public.
- Session Three: Hoenig Pilc Project in Ensemble Workshops. 3:30-4 p.m. Feb. 4. Morrison Cnter Room C125, with the Boise State Vocal Jazz Ensemble, and 4-4:45 p.m. Room B125 with the Boise State Big Band Ensemble.
