featuring Woodrow Clark, a qualitative economist and co-recipient of the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize for his work as an author and co-editor on the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). The IPCC and former Vice President Al Gore shared the 2007 prize.

From 6-7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 12, in the Student Union Jordan Ballroom (with free event parking in the Lincoln Parking Structure across from the SUB), Clark will discuss topics including new energy models, sustainable development issues and climate change impacts with host John Gardner, Boise State’s associate vice president for energy research, policy and campus sustainability.

The audience will be invited to join the conversation by asking questions during an informal exchange of ideas and information.

“Unlike a traditional campus lecture, this venue gives the community a chance to engage with a great thinker who is making a difference in the world in a setting that encourages interactive discourse,” Gardner said, “and the topic is central to many of the difficult challenges we face here in the West and throughout the world.”

This inaugural installment of Boise State’s “Great Conversations” is being presented in conjunction with the Northwest Energy Innovation Summit, a landmark regional event for alternative energy policy makers, entrepreneurs, investors and educators happening in Boise Jan.12-14. The conference is chaired by Mark Rivers, a local businessman and founder of Boise’s WaterCooler, an incubator for emerging companies in the creative economy.
