Boise State Center for Professional Development Features SHRM Essentials for HR Management Certificate

Boise State University’s Center for Professional Development will bring the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) Essentials of HR Management Certificate workshop to Boise Feb. 19-20. Gundars Kaupins, chair of the Management Department at Boise State, will incorporate Idaho-specific content into this dynamic workshop.

In today’s tight economy and environment of ethical gaps, the demand for human resource expertise has increased. HR professionals are being asked to expand their duties outside of limited specialty areas. In addition, managers, and in smaller organizations administrative staff, are being challenged to handle HR issues that were formerly covered by HR professionals. Even experienced managers must become current with the changes in the regulations and laws concerning both the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and ADA Amendments Act (ADAAA) that went into effect this month. Business leaders who are informed about the expanded HR roles and best practices are more likely to implement appropriate policies, promote organizational effectiveness and reduce litigation risk.

The Essentials of HR Management Certificate workshop will be held from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. both days at Boise State. The cost is $650 per person, including SHRM resource materials. Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI) Education Units are pending.
