Boise State Radio Hosts Info Session on StoryCorps

BOISE – Boise State Radio and the Boise City Arts Commission invite community members to learn about StoryCorps, a revolutionary initiative to record the nation’s stories. The meeting is from 1-3 p.m. Feb. 19 in the Boise City Hall Foothills Room.

Sponsored by National Public Radio and affiliated with the Library of Congress, StoryCorps was established to create an oral history of regular citizens, allowing everyday people to preserve personal stories for their own families and for future generations. Participants reserve an hour-long recording session to interview someone they know. At the end of the session, participants receive a CD copy to take home. With their permission, another copy will be archived at the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress.

StoryCorps will be in Boise from May 15-June 7. To learn more, visit www.storycorps.net. To learn more about the public meeting, or to RSVP for the meeting, contact Karen Bubb at kbubb@cityofboise.org or 433-5677.

Information on the Boise State Radio network, including KBSU-Arts and Cultural Programming, Idaho Jazz Station and NPR News 91, is available at http://radio.boisestate.edu

Boise State University is emerging as a metropolitan research university of distinction. This transformation is being powered by the university’s first comprehensive campaign to support students, faculty, strategic initiatives, research and infrastructure. That’s why the campaign to raise $175 million in private support is called Destination Distinction.
