BOISE STATE NEWS RELEASE / February 19, 2008

Boise State University Summer Registration Starts Today

Registration for the 2008 summer program at Boise State University begins today. Students can select from a wide variety of core, upper division, graduate and internet-based classes, as well as from a large selection of short workshops. This year’s workshop topics range from politics in America, diverse communities and cinema to desert studies, Shakespeare and Basque culture.

Summer classes start May 19 with the first three-week session. Five-week, eight-week, second five-week and 10-week sessions continue through mid-August. Classes are scheduled during the day, evening and on weekends.

Students can help fast track their education by enrolling for summer courses or catch courses they were unable to take in the fall and spring. Additional benefits of enrollment in the summer program include no out-of-state fees, no credit limit, reduced per-credit fees and no appointment for registration.

“Most summer classes meet four days a week or less, so students can earn credits and still enjoy long summer weekends,” said Mark Wheeler, dean of Extended Studies at Boise State.

Picking up one or two classes in the summer could save a student thousands of dollars if it helps shorten completion of his or her degree by even a semester. Students can more easily finish their degrees in four years by adding a summer class each year.

Currently enrolled Boise State students can register for summer classes on BroncoWeb. Others should check their access on BroncoWeb before reapplying for admission. For more information and a complete schedule of summer classes, visit www.boisestate.edu/extendedstudies/summer

Boise State University is emerging as a metropolitan research university of distinction. This transformation is being powered by the university’s first comprehensive campaign to support students, faculty, strategic initiatives, research and infrastructure. That’s why the campaign to raise $175 million in private support is called Destination Distinction.
