Six BSU Talkin' Broncos Qualify for National Individual Events Championship

Six Boise State University Talkin’ Broncos will attend the National Individual Events Tournament Championship held in April at the University of Texas-Austin. Students must earn top ranks at tournaments throughout the year in order to qualify for the national tournament.

Chad Judy (senior, Idaho Falls) leads the Talkin’ Broncos with four events qualified for nationals: Impromptu Speaking, Rhetorical Analysis, Extemporaneous Speaking and Oral Interpretation of Drama. Regan Charlton (sophomore, Inkom) qualified in Informative Speaking, Extemporaneous Speaking and Rhetorical Analysis. Kate Henry (sophomore, Couer d’ Alene) qualified in Oral Interpretation of Drama, Oral Interpretation of Prose and Rhetorical Analysis. Ben Bishop (junior, Meridian) qualified in Informative Speaking and Rhetorical Analysis. Both Debra Groberg (freshman, Idaho Falls) and Aaron Olson (freshman, Bremerton, Wash.) qualified in Informative Speaking.

The NIET Championship includes students from across the country and is one of the largest and most prestigious forensics tournaments in the United States. The Talkin’ Broncos are sponsored by the Jeker Family Trust.
