Boise State University Presents Free Poetry Slam, Workshops
Featuring Christian Drake
Slam poet Christian Drake will be the featured performer at a free poetry
slam Feb. 25 in the Boise State University Student Union Jordan D Ballroom.

Drake will give a workshop from 4-5 p.m. in the Student Union Forum,
located on the first floor of the Student Union Building. Sign-ups for the
slam begin at 6 p.m. outside the Jordan D Ballroom, with a competition from
6:30-8 p.m. Drake will give the featured performance from 8-9 p.m.
Drake is the 2008 Berkeley Grand Slam champion and a four-time national slam
team member and semi-finalist. He has been selected twice for feature
performances on the National Poetry Slam finals stage, and his work has been
covered around the United States and Europe by poets such as Andrea Gibson
and Gayle Danley. Drake describes himself as “a former urban forester,
planetarium guide and aquarium naturalist … the world’s only ‘eco-billy’
poet: a little bit environmentalism, a little bit rock and roll.”
