News Release CENTER NEWS RELEASE / February 18, 2009 Boise State Women's Center Presents Fund Raiser for Efforts to Stop Violence Against Women, Girls The Boise State University Women’s Center will present a V-Day benefit reading of “A Memory, a Monologue, a Rant and a Prayer: Writings to Stop Violence Against Women and Girls” at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Feb. 20-21, and 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22, in the Special Events Center at Boise State. Tickets are $8 for students with ID and $12 for the general public at all Select-a-Seat outlets or online at www.idahotickets.com. Proceeds will go to local organizations working to end violence against women and girls. “A Memory, a Monologue, a Rant and a Prayer: Writings to Stop Violence Against Women and Girls” is a groundbreaking collection of monologues by world-renowned authors and playwrights, edited by Eve Ensler and Mollie Doyle. “In the current era, it takes some brain racking to think of anyone else doing anything quite like Ensler,” said a Chicago Tribune reviewer. “She’s a countercultural consciousness raiser, an empowering figure, a truth-teller.” V-Day is a global movement to stop violence against women and girls.
