Students Earn Awards at Boise State Business Professionals of
America Conference, Advance to Nationals
Four Boise State University students earned awards during the state Business
Professionals of America competition held at Boise State earlier this month. The
students will compete at the National Leadership Conference in New York City in
May.
Nery Garcia, Nampa, took first place in fundamental word processing skills and
third in integrated office applications; Jennifer Lutke, LaGrande, Ore., placed
first in financial math and analysis, second in advanced accounting, and third
in computerized accounting; Tara Cooper, Boise, took second in integrated office
applications and fifth in fundamental word processing skills; and Jill Nock,
Lewiston, placed third in spreadsheet applications.
Darien Hartman, business programs instructor in the College of Applied
Technology, is the Boise State BPA student chapter adviser.
BPA is a national organization for high school, college and middle school
students preparing for careers in business and information technology
occupations. The organization’s activities and programs complement classroom
instruction by giving students practical experience through application of the
skills learned in school.
