Boise State Summer Camps Offer a Range of Fun Activities for All Ages

Boise State University offers a wide range of summer camps to meet just about any interest. Camps are geared for ages 5-high school and range from music and dance to sports, outdoor adventure and academics. Registration dates vary, so be sure to check individual listings closely.

June 2-5
Bronco competitive swimming clinic.
For boys and girls ages 11-18 with competitive swimming experience. 6:30-8 p.m. $15 per night or $50 for all four nights. This clinic will concentrate on aerobic training with detailed technique coaching and feedback including drills and individual feedback in all four strokes, as well as starts and turns. June 6-7
Bronco competitive swimming camp.
For boys and girls ages 11-18 with competitive swimming experience. 9 a.m.-4 p.m. June 6, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. June 7. $150 before June 3; $160 at the door. This camp will concentrate on technique including drills and individual stroke feedback, as well as starts and turns. Camp size is limited. June 8-10
Engineering Academy — Adventures in Engineering & Science.
For students entering grades 9-10. $200. This overnight camp shows that science and engineering can be fun. Hands-on activities and projects encourage self-discovery, cooperative learning, critical thinking and problem solving. Participants work in teams, are mentored by College of Engineering students and live on campus in a college dormitory under the supervision of camp staff. Little Bronco soccer camp.

Striker/keeper camp.
Boys and girls ages 9 and up. 6:30-8:30 p.m. $100. This camp guarantees strikers high repetitions of shooting with attention to proper technique. June 9-12
Little Bronco basketball camp.

Bronco soccer day camp.
Boys and girls ages 9 and up. 9 a.m.-noon. $150. Camp will cover individual technical skills (dribbling, shooting, passing, and ball control) and team tactics (attacking, defending, combination play and finishing). June 9-13
Chamber Music Camp.
For students in grades 7-12. $175 plus housing and meals if needed, with a discount for students who have attended three or more sessions. $85 for half-days, grades 10-12. String, woodwind, percussion, keyboard, brass, jazz improvisation and vocal. Conducted in the Morrison Center, curriculum includes opera theater, scenes from musicals, music theory, chamber ensembles, camp choir, group lessons, music appreciation, master classes, concerts and planned group recreation. June 9-27
Boise State summer youth program.
Ages: 5-14 for swimming and gymnastics, 8-14 for all other activities. 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Cost $55 per activity. Basketball, bowling, cheer/dance, gymnastics, multi-sport (floor hockey, lacrosse, soccer, Frisbee,), racquet sports (pickle ball, badminton, racquetball, table tennis), rock climbing, strength and conditioning, swimming, tennis, fly fishing and water games. Signup starts 7:30-11:30 a.m. April 26 in Room 215 of the Kinesiology Building and continues 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday starting April 28 in Room 209 of the Kinesiology Building. Boise State Middle-Level Adventure Academy.
For students entering grades 7-9. A five-week, Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. program. Students engage in a variety of adventure-based activities. Students use their bikes as the main mode of transportation and are away from campus most of the day. Presented by Boise State Center for School Improvement & Policy Studies. e-Girls.
An overnight adventure for girls entering grades 10-11 exploring engineering and technical careers and opportunities. Free. Workshops, led by the Society of Women Engineers professionals and college students, may include: biomechanics of footwear, packaging and the environment, virtual worlds, rocket into space, and a world of career choices. June 14-18
Bronco high school football camp.

June 15-July 3
Boise State Campus Recreation W.I.L.D.
Idaho: Whitewater Intensive & Leadership Development. Ages 14-18. $1,950 (not including airfare). For beginners to expert-level kayakers. This 19-day expedition will use whitewater kayaks and rafts to explore the famous rivers of Idaho. Students will learn and practice leadership skills and earn a certificate of completion in kayak instruction and minimal-impact camping. Program includes a relevant community-service project. Gene Harris Jazz Camp.
For beginning and developing jazz instrumental improvisers from fifth grade to adult. $120. 1-5 p.m. Concert June 20 in the Gene Harris Band Shell at Julia Davis Park. This camp focuses on jazz vocabulary, history, improvisational theory, listening skills, forms, tunes and performance. Continuing education credit available. June 16-28
Summer DanceFest.
Ages 12 and up; audition required. Cost varies depending on schedule. Conducted in the Morrison Center, this camp consists of two weeks of workshops for dancers at an intermediate to advanced technique level. Features a complete curriculum in ballet, jazz and modern dance and choreography taught by internationally known instructors. Includes a series of public performances at the end of the workshop featuring works by DanceFest faculty and guest choreographers. Summer DanceFest Choreography Festival performances at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday June 27 and 28 in Morrison Center Stage II. Housing option available. Youth football camp.
Ages 6-13. 5-8 p.m. June 19; 9 a.m.-noon June 20-21 on the blue turf at Bronco Stadium and the Caven Williams Sports Complex. $125. Emphasis is on developing football skills at every position: kicker, punter, offensive/defensive lineman, quarterback, running back, etc. Registration deadline is June 12. Boise State Campus Recreation Idaho River Runner Camp.
Ages 14-18. $365. For beginners to expert level. This four-day camp will use whitewater rowing and paddle boating skills to explore the famous rivers of Idaho. Students will learn and practice leadership skills and earn a certificate of completion in rowing, paddle boating, river safety, whitewater reading and minimal-impact camping. June 23-26
Boise State Campus Recreation Cliff Hanger Camp.
Ages 14-18. $300. For beginner to expert level climbers. This four-day camp will explore famous climbing sites around Boise. Girls’ Hoop Camp.
For girls ages 10-17. $235. Overnighters: $295. Cavalcade Band Camp.
For high school students and band directors. $225 with housing and meals; $80 tuition only. Intense marching band instruction for drum majors, drumline and color guard students. Boise State summer youth program.
