'Radiant Days' Author Michael Fitzgerald Will Speak at Boise State's MFA Reading Series on March 14

Author Michael FitzGerald will read at 7:30 p.m. March 14 in Liberal Arts Building Room 106 at Boise State University as part of the MFA Reading Series. The reading is free and open to the public.

FitzGerald is a former Boise State instructor whose debut novel, “Radiant Days,” (published by Shoemaker & Hoard in 2007) was an L.A. Weekly Favorite Book of the Year and has been praised by many reviewers — including the New York Times and Booklist — for its dark, powerful portrayal of one American’s experiences following the end of the war in the Balkans.

His other works of fiction include “Oysters,” published in Northwest Review; “Jaws of Life,” published by Cutbank Literary Magazine; and “Toxoplasmosis,” published by the Massachusetts Review. He is the author of several essays and reviews, including “The Heart of Keith Banner’s America,” published in “Other Voices”; a review of Robert Bolano’s “Last Evenings on Earth,” published by the Boise Weekly; and “I Heart Denis Johnson,” published by Swink.

FitzGerald is the recipient of a Fishtrap Fellowship, an Idaho Commission on the Arts Literature Fellowship and an ICA Quickfunds grant. He works as a software engineer and lives in Missoula with his wife and two young sons.

Free and open to the public, the MFA Reading Series brings nationally renowned authors and poets to the Boise State campus. Past speakers include Rick Bass, Chris Offutt, Rae Armantrout, Alice Notley, Michael Palmer, Joy Williams, Denis Johnson, Richard Bausch and Nathaniel Mackey.
