Palestinian Author, Activist Hanan Ashrawi to Speak at Boise
State University on April 7
Palestinian author and activist Hanan Ashrawi will speak about “Peace:
Requirements and Obstacles” at 7 p.m. April 7 at the Boise State University
Special Events Center. The event is free and open to the public and
co-sponsored by the Idaho Humanities Council.
Ashrawi also will speak to a smaller audience during a dinner at 6 p.m.
April 6 at the First Presbyterian Church of Boise, 10th and State Street.
The event will be hosted by the Kessler-Keener Lectures and will be catered
by Mazzah Mediterranean Grill of Boise. Tickets are $40 per person and
advance purchase is required.
Lesley Stahl of “60 Minutes” has described Ashrawi as a “Palestinian who has
been at the peace process longer than almost anyone.” Ashrawi is the author
of numerous articles and a memoir, “This Side of Peace: A Personal Account.”
She is the winner of the 2003 Sydney Peace Prize and was an important leader
in the Palestinian community during the first intifada, and continues to be
a champion for human rights.
