Boise State University Celebrates Cesar E. Chavez Memorial
Week with Lectures, Read-In and More
Boise State University will present a week’s worth of events to celebrate
Cesar Chavez Memorial Week, March 31-April 5. Sponsors include the Boise
State Cultural Center, Student Programs Board, Bilingual Education Student
Organization, Department of Bilingual Education and Department of Sociology.
All events are free and open to the public.
• Lunch and discussion of English-only policies. Noon, March 31, Student
Union Lookout Room. Sponsored by the Bilingual Education Student
Organization. RSVP by calling 426-5950.
• Birthday cake on the Quad. 11 a.m.-2 p.m. April 1.
• Breakfast sponsored by the Student Programs Board. 9 a.m. April 2, Lookout
Room. Leo Morales from Idaho Community Action Network will talk about farm
worker rights.
• “The Fight in the Fields: The Story and Struggle of Cesar Chavez.”
Screenings at 10 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., Cultural Center on the second
floor of the Student Union.
• Chicana/o and Indigenous Read-in Forum. 11 a.m.-1 p.m., Student Union
Brava! Stage on the first floor. Sign up at the event or by calling 426-5950
to read works by indigenous and chicana/o authors.
