Boise State Offers Summer Camps to Meet a Variety of Interests, Ages

Boise State University offers a wide range of summer camps to meet just about any interest. Camps are geared for ages 5 through high school and range from music and dance to sports, outdoor adventure and academics. Registration dates vary, so be sure to check individual listings closely.

June 1-4
Bronco competitive swimming clinic.
For boys and girls ages 7-17. 6:30-8 p.m. $50 for all four sessions or $15 per session. This clinic will concentrate on competitive swimming techniques in all four strokes, including drills and individual stroke feedback, as well as starts and turns. Each swimmer will have the opportunity to be videotaped underwater in their choice of stroke. Camp size is limited to 48 participants. Campers must have their own medical insurance. June 5-6
Bronco competitive swimming camp.
For boys and girls ages 11-17. 9 a.m.-4 p.m. June 5 and 9 a.m.-1 p.m. June 6. $165, which includes Friday lunch, Saturday snack, T-shirt and swimming cap. This camp will concentrate on competitive swimming techniques in all four strokes, including drills and individual stroke feedback, as well as starts and turns. June 7-9
e-Camp.
For boys and girls in grades 8 and 9. $200, with scholarships available. Use hands-on activities and projects involving problem solving and teamwork to explore careers in engineering and computer science while living on campus in a college dormitory. June 8-10
Little Bronco soccer camp.

June 8-10
Striker/keeper camp.
Boys and girls ages 9 and up. 6:30-8:30 p.m. $100. This camp guarantees strikers high repetitions of shooting with attention to proper technique. June 8-10
Girls’ hoop camp.
For girls ages 10-17. Commuters (9 a.m.-8 p.m.): $235. Overnighters: $295. This camp will concentrate on skills such as shooting, ball handling, passing, defense, rebounding, cutting, screening, etc. Registration deadline is June 4. June 8-12
Bronco soccer day camp.
Boys and girls ages 9 and up. 9-11 a.m. $150. Camp will cover individual technical skills (dribbling, shooting, passing and ball control) and team tactics (attacking, defending, combination play and finishing). June 8-12
Chamber Music Camp.
For students in grades 7-12. $175 plus housing and meals if needed, with a discount for students who have attended three or more sessions. $85 for half-days, grades 10-12. String, woodwind, percussion, keyboard, brass, jazz improvisation and vocal. Conducted in the Morrison Center, curriculum includes opera theater, scenes from musicals, music theory, chamber ensembles, camp choir, group lessons, music appreciation, master classes, concerts and planned group recreation. June 8-26
Boise State summer youth sports program.
Ages: 5-14 for swimming and gymnastics, 8-14 for all other activities. Various times from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Cost $55 per activity ($65 for rock climbing). Basketball, bowling, cheer/dance, gymnastics, multi-sport (floor hockey, lacrosse, soccer, flag football, Frisbee,), racquetball, rock climbing (held in the Student Recreation Center), strength and conditioning, swimming, team building, tennis and water games. Boise State Middle-Level Adventure Program.
For students entering grades 7-9. A five-week, Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. program. Students engage in a variety of adventure-based activities. Students use their bikes as the main mode of transportation and are away from campus most of the day. Presented by the Center for School Improvement & Policy Studies in the College of Education. Boise State Summer Academy.
For students entering grades 2-6. A five-week, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. program. Students participate in the enrichment of academic skills. Activities include computer instruction, arts and crafts, swimming lessons, public library visits and physical activities. Presented by the Center for School Improvement & Policy Studies in the College of Education. Enrollment begins March 30 for Boise State faculty/students and April 11 for the public. June 11-13
Bronco boys’ team basketball camp.

June 12-13
e-Girls.
An overnight adventure for girls entering grades 10-11 exploring engineering and technical careers and opportunities. Free. Workshops led by Society of Women Engineers professionals and college students may include: Biomechanics of Footwear, Packaging and the Environment, Virtual Worlds with Alice, Solving Forensic Mysteries, Physics of Rock Climbing/Rope Walking, A World of Career Choices and more. Summer DanceFest.
Ages 12 and up; audition required. Cost varies depending on schedule. Conducted in the Morrison Center, this camp consists of two weeks of workshops for dancers at an intermediate to advanced technique level. Features a complete curriculum in ballet, jazz and modern dance and choreography taught by internationally known instructors. Includes a series of public performances at the end of the workshop featuring works by DanceFest faculty and guest choreographers. Summer DanceFest Choreography Festival performances at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday June 26 and 27 in the Morrison Center. Housing option available. Summer Literacy Academy. For students entering first-fourth grades. 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at Foothills School, 618 S. 8th Street, Boise. $300. Youth football camp.
Ages 6-13. 5-8 p.m. June 18; 9 a.m.-noon June 19-20 on the blue turf at Bronco Stadium and the Caven-Williams Sports Complex. $125. Emphasis is on developing football skills at every position: kicker, punter, offensive/defensive lineman, quarterback, running back, etc. Registration deadline is June 16. June 22-25
Little Bronco basketball camp.
For boys ages 6-12. 9 a.m.-4 p.m. $175. Each camper will learn and develop the basic fundamentals needed to play basketball. Bronco wrestling team camp.
For grades 8-12. $270-$300 overnight; $120-$150 commuter. This camp focuses on the skills of competitive match wrestling, such as strategies, tactics, match management, clock management and effective techniques. June 29-July 3

Girls’ individual volleyball camp.
