What: Two photo-friendly events happening on the Boise State campus Saturday — the Beat Coach Pete Fun Run for Student Scholarships and the Seven Arrows Pow Wow
When: April 11
Where: Beat Pete starts and ends at the Student Recreation Center; the Pow Wow is in the new Student Union Grand Ballroom

Two popular, colorful events will make for a busy Saturday morning on the Boise State University campus. Both offer excellent photo, video and story opportunities.

• The second annual Beat Coach Pete Fun Run for Student Scholarships begins at 9:30 a.m. in front of the Student Recreation Center; the race course is along the Greenbelt through Anne Morrison and Julia Davis parks. Last year about 750 people attended this event, which raises money for student scholarships. Bronco football Coach Chris Petersen is the featured racer, and he has pledge to donate money for every participant who beats him to the finish line.

• The annual Seven Arrows Pow Wow is one of the most culturally interesting and visual events at Boise State, featuring contests in dancing and drumming. The grand entry will take place at noon on Saturday and will feature the Honor Guard unit from the Mountain Home Air Force Base and an invocation by Michael Pavel of Washington State University, a member of the Skokomish Tribe. Events continue with intertribal and contest dancing, the Miss Seven Arrows contest, student organization performances, drumming and another grand entry at 7 p.m. The Pow Wow runs from 9 a.m.-11 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday; the grand entry on Sunday is at noon.
