Exhibitions Bring Watercolor, Calligraphy to Boise State
University

Two exhibitions on display at Boise State University during the month of
June will feature works from artists throughout the state.
• The Idaho Center for the Book will host an exhibition of
calligraphed books about books by the Idaho Inkspots. The exhibition, “A
Passion for Books,” will be on display from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. weekdays and from
noon-5 p.m. weekends on the first floor of the Liberal Arts Building in
June. The exhibition is free and open to the public.

The Inkspots select a different theme each year for their annual exhibit.
This year, the show is composed of calligraphic pieces about books as well
as handmade books by calligraphers. The Idaho Center for the Book,
established in 1994 at Boise State, is an affiliate of the Library of
Congress Center for the Book. Its special mission is to promote the making
of handmade and artists’ books.
• The 29th annual Idaho Watercolor Society Juried Exhibition will run from
May 30-June 26, with a reception from 6-7:30 p.m. June 6 in the Student
Union Gallery. This exhibition highlights selected watercolor paintings from
member artists from around the state. The Idaho Watercolor Society was
founded in the fall of 1979 to support and promote aqua media and to educate
the public as to the significance of the media. Active membership is open to
residents of Idaho and is comprised of a wide range of painters, from
beginner to professional. More information can be found at

The Boise State University admission deadline for the fall semester is
June 30. Admission materials must be submitted if degree-seeking students
plan to take more than seven credits or apply for federal financial aid.
