African Children's Choir to Perform at Boise State
The Matsiko Children’s Choir will perform at Boise State University at 6
p.m. July 29 at the Centennial Amphitheatre behind the Communication
Building along the Greenbelt. The performance is free and open to the
public. Merchandise will be sold on location to support the choir.
The Matsiko Children’s choir is an African choir of the International
Children’s Network. The choir, whose name is derived from the Ugandan word
for hope, combines dance, drama, testimonies and show-stopping drums with
outstanding vocalists. The purpose of the group is to educate audiences
about the daily struggle of poor, orphaned and at-risk children in Uganda.
The money Matsiko earns through the sale of merchandise is used, according
to the International Children’s Network, “to give hope to children in
hopeless situations.”
The performance is co-sponsored by the Boise State Children’s Welfare Center
and the Boise State Cultural Center.
