News Release MEDIA ADVISORY / June 3, 2009 Media Advisory What: e-Camp and e-Girls will introduce junior high and high school students to engineering through robotics, rockets, electronics, water resources and more When: e-Camp June 7-9; e-Girls June 12-13 Where: Micron Engineering Center, 1020 Manitou Ave., Boise State campus Boise State University’s College of Engineering is providing opportunities for young people to get physically and mentally active while learning engineering basics with two popular summer camps in June, and both will be full of colorful photo, video and interview opportunities. Things kick off with e-Camp June 7-9, and 47 exiting 8th and 9th grade students are expected to participate. The best visuals are as follows: • June 8 — robotics and rocket activities from 9 a.m.-noon and 1:15-4:15 p.m. in rooms 106 and 103 (robotics) and 114 (rockets). • June 9 — e-Trash (dismantling electronics) and a water resources activity by the McCall Outdoor Science School from 9-10:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m.-12:15 p.m. in rooms 106 and 114, plus a final competition facilitated by Woody Sobey from the Discovery Center of Idaho from 1:30-4:30 p.m. in room 114. Later that week, June 12-13, e-Girls will bring about 45 exiting 9th and 10th grade girls to Boise State. Dynamic visual opportunities include: • June 12 — rocket into space from 9:30-10:45 a.m. and 11 a.m.-12:15 p.m. in room 114 and dance pad mania from 1:45-2:15 p.m. in room 106. • June 13 — fun with biology and experiments with temperature from 9:15-10:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m.-noon in rooms 106 and 114.
