EVENT NEWS RELEASE / August 6, 2008 Osher Lifelong Learning Institute Season Begins Sept. 4 The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Boise State University will begin its fall programming on Sept. 4, kicking off a season that invites the community to explore Islam, how the courts are portrayed in movies, the Northwest’s national parks and much more. The institute is membership based and offers a series of lectures, noncredit courses and special events for intellectually curious adults. Membership fees are $35 for the semester or $55 for the year, and it is open to all. The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Boise State was awarded its second $100,000 grant from the national Bernard Osher Foundation earlier this year to continue enhancing and expanding programming in Southwest Idaho. The Institute received its first grant from the foundation in 2006 and changed its name from the Renaissance Institute to the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute. If membership in 2009 reaches 500, the Boise program will be eligible to apply for a $1 million endowment from the Osher Foundation. For more information or details on special events — including sessions on the Trey McIntyre project, finding meaning in the second half of life, chemistry for the curious and behind the scenes at Idaho Public Television — visit www.boisestate.edu/osher or call (208) 426-2047.
