Annual Galing Galing Festival Brings Diverse Filipino Culture
to Boise State University
Galing Galing, an annual festival that celebrates Filipino culture, will be
held Oct. 18 in the Boise State University Student Union Special Events
Center. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the show starts at 6 p.m. Admission is
free for Boise State students with ID; general admission is $12 at the
Student Union Info Desk or by calling 426-5950. Free parking will be
available in the Liberal Arts Building lot.
This year’s Galing Galing theme is “Day Off,” and will feature stand-up
comedy by Dan Gabriel, followed by music and dancing incorporating Spanish
rhythms and Lindy Hop dancing. Following the dance portion of the evening,
the festivities will continue in the Student Union Jordan Ballroom D with a
buffet of traditional Filipino foods and dance lessons.
Galing Galing is presented by BARCADA, a Boise State student Filipino group,
as well as the Cultural Center and the Student Programs Board. Raffle
tickets will be available for $1, with all proceeds benefitting the Boise
State University Foundation Relations Club and the Diversity Association
Fund. For more information, call 426-4636 or 426-5950.
