Vox Discipuli Lecture at Boise State University Features
Political Journalists Jonah Goldberg, Peter Beinart
The Vox Discipuli Lecture Series at Boise State University will present a
lively, election-themed debate, “Red vs. Blue,” at 7 p.m. Oct. 6 in the
Student Union Jordan Ballroom. The lecture is free and open to the public.
“Red vs. Blue” pits two of the most prominent young political journalists in
the country against each other: conservative columnist Jonah Goldberg and
progressive editor-at-large Peter Beinart. “Red vs. Blue” is a wide-ranging
discussion about the issues that are affecting the country during this
critical election year. Beinart and Goldberg’s “Red vs. Blue” is one of the
most popular political debates on college campuses across the United States.
Goldberg is a best-selling author who is a contributing editor to the
National Review and who was a founding editor of National Review Online. He
is a weekly columnist for the Los Angeles Times, and his syndicated column
appears regularly in newspapers around the country. His first book, “Liberal
Fascism: The Secret History of the American Left from Mussolini to the
Politics of Meaning,” was a no. 1 New York Times and Amazon bestseller. He
is also a regular political commentator on CNN.
Beinart is the editor-at-large of the New Republic and served as the
magazine’s editor from 1999-2006; currently, he writes a weekly column for
the magazine that is reprinted in a number of newspapers. He writes a
monthly syndicated column for the Washington Post and is a contributor to
Time magazine. He is a senior fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations and
appears on a variety of cable TV shows as well as a commentator on CNN.
Vox Discipuli is a student-run lecture series that aims to enrich the
educational experience of Boise State students and community by presenting
lectures, panels and debates on contemporary topics relevant to students.
