Greener Solutions Art Show Makes Call to Artists for Submissions; Deadline Nov. 17

Got an artistic flare for greener solutions? Organizers of the Second Annual Greener Solutions art show at Boise State University are making their 2009 call to artists for submissions. The juried show is a statewide exhibition that will be displayed in Boise State’s Student Union Gallery Jan. 8- Feb. 16.

Joshua Olson, public arts program specialist for the Boise City Department of Arts and History, and Barbara Robinson, director of artist services from the Idaho Commission on the Arts will jury the submissions.

Best of Show will be awarded $500 for a submission utilizing reused or recycled materials, with second place receiving $200 and third place $150. The Merit Award and $150 will be given to a student for best use of materials. Student work is considered for all prizes. Details on the awards ceremony will be forthcoming at a later date.

Entries must address global climate change or related environmental issues. Promotion of ecologically conscious and sustainable living along with the use of environmentally friendly processes or the reuse of materials is highly encouraged. The exhibition is open to all Idaho residents and student artists 18 and older. All media will be considered for exhibition and must consist of pieces no larger than 60 inches by 60 inches by 60 inches. Two-dimensional pieces must be ready to hang.
