The lecture is based on the results of the 2006 Latino National Survey — the first-ever nationwide public opinion poll of the Latino population. Fraga, who was one of six principal investigators in the survey, will use findings from the survey to discuss the presence, diversity, political attitudes and behaviors of Latinos in the United States.

Fraga is a professor of political science and director of the Diversity Research Institute at the University of Washington. He received his Ph.D. in political science from Rice University and has held posts at University of Oklahoma, University of Notre Dame and Stanford. His main research interests are urban politics, education politics, voting rights policy and the politics of race and ethnicity.

Fraga has published extensively in scholarly journals and is the coauthor of the recent publication “Multiethnic Moments: The Politics of Urban Education Reform.” He also serves as co-chair of the American Political Science Association’s Presidential Task Force on Political Science in the 21st Century.

The lecture is being presented by the Boise State Cultural Center, Boise State Political Science Department and is sponsored by the department’s new Latin American/Latino studies minor. Free parking will be available in the Lincoln Garage.
