MFA Reading Series at Boise State University Presents Author and Poet Katy Lederer on Nov. 4

Author and poet Katy Lederer will read at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 4 in the Student Union Farnsworth Room as part of Boise State University’s MFA Reading Series. This event is free and open to the public.

Lederer is the author of the poetry collection “Winter Sex” and the memoir “Poker Face: A Girlhood Among Gamblers,” which Publishers Weekly included on its list of best nonfiction books of the year and Esquire magazine named one of its eight best books of the year. Her second poetry book, “The Heaven-Sent Leaf,” was released by the publishing house BOA Editions this fall.

Lederer’s poems and prose have appeared in “The American Poetry Review,” “Boston Review,” “Harvard Review,” GQ and elsewhere. Her work has been in anthologies such as “Body Electric,” “From Poe to the Present: great American Prose Poems” and “State of the Union,” among other publications.

Educated at the University of California-Berkeley and the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, she serves as poetry editor of Fence magazine. Her honors and awards include an Academy of American Poets prize, fellowships from Yaddo, MacDowell and the New York Foundation for the Arts, and a Discover Great New Writers citation from Barnes and Noble.

Free and open to the public, the MFA Reading Series brings nationally renowned authors and poets to the Boise State campus. Past speakers include Rick Bass, Chris Offutt, Rae Armantrout, Alice Notley, Michael Palmer, Joy Williams, Anthony Doerr, Denis Johnson, Richard Bausch and Nathaniel Mackey.
