Billie Grace Lynn creates sculptures that are interactive, kinetic and that

Bilingual Poetry Reading Presents Martin Camps. Student Union
Farnsworth Room. 3:15 p.m. Camps holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in
Spanish and is currently a professor of Spanish and Latin American
literature at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, Calif. Free.

Tuesday, Oct. 28
Economy Panel Session. Student Union Farnsworth Room. 12:40-1:30 p.m.
The panel series, titled “Election 2008: Know the Issues,” will include
faculty and community experts, including public officials, in discussions
about issues identified by College of Social Sciences and Public Affairs
faculty members as central to the election. Free. For more information, call

“Redefining America: Examining How Latinos are Reshaping the U.S.”
Special Events Center. 7 p.m. This lecture is based on the results of the
2006 Latino National Survey. Luis Fraga, who was one of six principal
investigators in the survey, will use its findings to discuss the presence,
diversity, political attitudes and behaviors of Latinos in the United
States. The lecture is presented by the Boise State Political Science
Department and is sponsored by the department’s new Latin American/Latino
studies minor, Cultural Center, SSPA Dean’s Office, Academic Affairs and
Student Affairs. Free parking will be available in the Lincoln Garage. For

Wednesday, Oct. 29
Monster Bash. Student Union Building. 6-9 p.m. Celebrate Halloween
with kid-friendly festivities. Featuring noodle skeleton, pumpkin and cookie
decorating, popcorn hands, haunted hallway, costume contest, fishing well
and food. $5 per family for non-students, $3 per family for students. For

Thursday, Oct. 30-Saturday Nov. 1
“Lucia di Lammermoor.” Open dress rehearsal at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 30;
tickets for the rehearsal are $12 adults and $5 students at the door.
Performance at 8 p.m. Nov. 1. Presented by Opera Idaho. “Lucia di Lammemoor”
by Gaetano Donizetti is the touching, tragic love story set at the close of
the 16th century in Scotland. Starring tenor Christopher Bengochea and

Fred Fenster Workshop. Art Metals Studio, located in Liberal Arts
Building Room 157. Internally renowned artist Fenster will lead a three-day,
hands-on pewtersmithing workshop. To register for the workshop, contact

The workshop is $350 general, $325 for Idaho Metal Arts Guild members and
$225 for students. A $100 materials fee is included in the registration
cost.

Visiting Artist and Scholar Program, Featuring Fred Fenster. Student
Union Farnsworth Room. 7 p.m. Internationally renowned artist Fred Fenster,
professor emeritus at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, will give a
lecture. Fenster’s appearance is sponsored by the Associated Students of

Alanis Morissette. Morrison Center. 7:30 p.m. Alanis Morissette
remains not only an enduringly popular artist, but one whose success stems

Tunnel of Oppression. Student Union Hatch Ballroom. 10 a.m.-7 p.m.
Nov. 7 and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Nov. 8. The tunnel is designed to help raise
consciousness about various forms of oppression. Visitors will be led
through a series of connected rooms, each of which features a vignette
performed by Boise State students and is designed to help participants learn
about different forms of discrimination. This year’s theme is “Make the
Injustice Visible” and is directed by Boise State adjunct professor Steven
“Monk” Wells. After each tour, participants will be able to discuss the
program’s content in groups staffed by student leaders, administrators and

p.m. Join the Outdoor Program for an educational clinic about maintaining

eight-member early music ensemble performs on replica instruments.

Tuesday, Nov. 18
Greg Mortenson. Morrison Center. 7 p.m. Greg Mortenson’s appearance
is part of Boise State’s First Year Read program. “Three Cups of Tea” tells
the story of Mortenson, who sold everything and lived in his car to make
good on his promise to an impoverished Pakistani village to build a school
for its children. Mortenson combines his unique background with his intimate
knowledge of the third world to fight terrorism with books, not bombs, and
successfully bring education and hope to remote villages in central Asia.
There are no tickets; seating is first-come, first-served. Groups of 10 or

Park and Ski Program. Student Recreation Center Classroom 7-8 p.m.
Learn about Nordic ski and snowshoe opportunities just north of Idaho City.
You will get a visual tour of the 55-mile long Park N' Ski trail system and
the five backcountry yurts. If you plan to ski or snowshoe the deep powder
at one of the yurts this winter, this program will help you plan a fun and

“House Bunny.” Student Union Hatch Ballroom. Life at the Playboy
mansion is great, until you get evicted. Shelly, a former Playboy bunny is
kicked out of the Playboy mansion and has no where to go. Somehow she

“The Forgotten Carols.” Morrison Center. Since its release in 1991,
Michael McLean has performed a theatrical version of “The Forgotten Carols”
to sold-out audiences throughout the United States. McLean is a songwriter,
composer, author, performer, playwright, film producer and director. Tickets

Broadway in Boise presents “Jim Brickman’s Christmas Show.” Morrison

and are faced with casting the Herdman Kids, who are known as the most awful
kids in history. The result is a delightful evening of fun, mayhem and
