Here are a few ideas based on topics Boise State experts can talk about or activities on campus: • Ever wonder why it’s so fun to be scared? Eric Landrum, professor of psychology, can shed a little light on why we delight in the ghoulish by talking about the psychology of being scared. He will answer your questions about Boise’s ghost stories, creepy urban legends and true crime. Call (208) 426-3701 or e-mail tshalla@boisestate.edu to set up an interview. • Celebrate Halloween a little early at the Monster Bash from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29, in the Student Union Building. This kid-friendly event will feature noodle skeletons, pumpkin and cookie decorating, popcorn hands, a haunted hallway, costume contest, fishing well and food. Cost is $5 per family for non-students or $3 per family for Boise State students. For more information, e-mail spbfamily@boisestate.edu. • As if messy college dorm rooms weren’t scary enough. Boise State University Housing will host the sixth annual Haunted Halls event from 5-8 p.m. Oct. 31 at Towers Residential Hall at the far west end of campus along Capitol Boulevard. The event, intended for children ages 3 to 12, is free and open to the public and will feature games, movies, candy and face painting on the first floor of the building, with the upper floors being transformed into a haunted house. Free parking will be available.
