Economy is Topic of Third "Election 2008: Know the Issues" Forum on Tuesday

The economy will be the focus of the third and final “Election 2008: Know the Issues” expert panel convened by Boise State’s College of Social Sciences and Public Affairs in the run-up to the Nov. 4 general election.

The public panel will meet from 12:40-1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct 28, in the Student Union Farnsworth Room and delve into perhaps the most high profile issue of the election season.

Panel members, all from Boise State’s Department of Economics in the College of Business and Economics, and the issues they will discuss include:

• Chris Loucks, professor of economics – economic stimulus packages and economic growth
• Scott Lowe, assistant professor of economics – candidate environmental policies and environmental and economic effects
• Zeynep Hansen, associate professor of economics – candidate health care policies
• Geoffrey Black, associate professor of economics – the candidates on Social Security

The forum is free and open to the public and will include a question and answer segment with the audience.

The three-panel series focuses on issues identified by Social Sciences and Public Affairs faculty members as central to the election. Previous panels were held on immigration, energy and the environment.
