Diverse Perspectives Series at Boise State University
Features the Film An Unreasonable Man'
The Diverse Perspectives Film Series will continue with “An Unreasonable
Man: Ralph Nader” at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 13 in the Student Union Lookout Room on
the Boise State University main campus at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 17 in Room 102E of
the Boise State West campus. The screenings are free and open to the public
and are sponsored by the Boise State University Cultural Center, Idaho
Public Television and the Independent Television Service.
“An Unreasonable Man: Ralph Nader” tells the story of the consumer advocate
who has built an impressive legislative record. Yet today, many consider him
an egomaniac and presidential “spoiler.” “An Unreasonable Man” takes an
unsparing look at one of the most important and controversial political
figures of our time.
Following the screening in Boise, Ross Burkhart, chair of the Department of
Political Science, will engage the public in a democracy forum to explore
the pros and cons of the two-party system. ITVS regional outreach
coordinator Lynn Allen will lead the discussion in Nampa.
This preview screening is an abridged, one-hour version of “An Unreasonable
Man.” This segment of the film focuses on Nader’s campaign for the
presidency in the 2000 and 2004 elections and features interviews and
commentary from his supporters, his opponents, journalists and political
analysts. The other part of the film, which can be viewed at 9 p.m. Dec. 18
on Idaho Public Television, focuses on Nader’s legacy as a pioneer in
consumer advocacy and citizen activism.
