Boise State Hires Jon Uda as Executive Director of Campus
Security and Police Services
Jon Uda, a 29-year veteran of law enforcement including work for the Federal
Bureau of Investigation, has been named to the new position of Executive
Director of Campus Security and Police Services at Boise State University,
effective Dec. 8.
His major responsibilities include leading a comprehensive security
operation, working with the Boise Police Department as the contract
administrator for campus services, and acting as the liaison with other law
enforcement agencies and private security companies for campus events and
venues.
“Tragic events on college campuses in recent years have raised the awareness
for effective security measures,” said Boise State President Bob Kustra.
“The hiring of this position is one of our key initiatives to enhance the
existing public safety efforts. With his tremendous experience, Jon will be
instrumental in keeping Boise State as a safe place to live and learn.”
Uda had a 25-year career with the FBI working in Salt Lake City, Washington,
D.C., Quantico, Va., and Los Angeles. In 2004, he retired as a FBI special
agent to become the Assistant Federal Security Director of Law Enforcement
at the Boise Airport for the Transportation Security Administration in the
Department of Homeland Security.
Uda is a 1975 graduate of Boise State University with a bachelor of science
degree in education. He also worked in the Mountain Home School District as
a teacher and coach.
“The key to building a 21st century security program at Boise State with its
metropolitan setting and growing residential community is collaboration,
coordination and communication among all the campus stakeholders,” Uda said.
