ANYTHING GOES WINTER DANCE PERFORMANCE BY IDAHO DANCE THEATRE

Idaho Dance Theatre presents its Winter Performance, Anything Goes, at 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18, and 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. Saturday. Jan. 19, in the Boise State University Special Events Center.

Anything Goes brings elements of dance, theatre and surrealism to the stage. Carl Rowe will premiere his newest choreography to selections from Bachs solo cello sonatas, performed by guest artist Langroise Trio cellist Samuel Smith. The choreography draws on passion and complexity of the music and will include seven to eight sections.

Eloy Barragan, first-time guest choreographer for IDT and a past principal dancer with Ballet Idaho, will debut his newest choreography, which features Yurek Hansen and Echo Waldron, plus a cast of four men and five women.

Marla Hansens Friends and Lovers, performed to Shakespeares sonnets, returns to the stage. This evocative work is danced to 12 sonnets as read by actors Richard Klautsch and Carole Whiteleather and explores the many types of human love with visual imagery inspired by the language of Shakespeare.

Also, for the first time on IDTs main-stage season Marla Hansens romantic comedy, Soiree, will be performed to Mozarts Eine kleine Nachtmusik. This lighthearted performance features three aristocratic couples and their servants, and captures the classical beauty and joy of Mozarts music. Eighteenth century costumes designed by Boise State theatre arts professor Anne Hoste will set the scene for humor and romance.

Tickets are $10 to $22, available at Select-a-Seat locations, 426-1766, or www.idahotickets.com.
