BOISE STATE STUDENT PROGRAMS BOARD PRESENTS FEBRUARY FILM SERIES
The Boise State Student Programs Board presents critically acclaimed feature films at budget admission prices. All February films begin at 7 p.m. in the Special Events Center in the Student Union. Admission prices are $2 general and $1 students for all films except “Lou Reed” on Feb. 20. That film is free.
Feb. 6 — Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels
In this gangster comedy set in the London underworld, a streetwise card shark named Eddy loses a set-up, high-stakes game and becomes indebted to his father’s old adversary. Eddy and his gang dangerously deal to raise the money. Meanwhile, Eddy’s father can cancel the debt by handing over his bar — lock, stock and barrel.
Feb. 13 — The Game
Shrewdly successful businessman Nicholas Van Orton (Michael Douglas) receives an unexpected birthday gift — a game from his brother Conrad (Sean Penn). Nicholas discovers the game has high stakes, devastating consequences and unclear rules and purpose.
Feb. 20 — Lou Reed: Rock and Roll Heart
Overflowing with archival performance footage, this film traces New York rocker Lou Reed’s artistic development over three decades — from the days of the Velvet Underground, through Reed’s solo career, to his collaborations with David Bowie, Laurie Anderson and Robert Wilson. The film includes feature interviews with multiple music artists.
Feb. 27 — Even Dwarfs Started Small
Werner Herzog’s second film depicts a day-long anarchist uprising at a correctional institution on a remote island peopled by midgets. The film is a nightmarish allegory for stunted humanity and frustrated revolt.
