EXTREME SPORTS FILM FESTIVAL WILL BENEFIT BOISE STATE OUTDOOR CENTER

Films of extreme and cutting-edge kayaking, base jumping, surfing, snowboarding, mountain biking and more will be shown at the Sawtooth Mountain Film Festival at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 1, in the Boise State University Special Events Center. The film festival is a fund-raiser for the Boise State Outdoor Center. Admission is $5 at the door.

The following films will be shown:

"The Black," produced by Neil Michaelis, will show daring BASE jumpers flying off narrow canyons and tall cliffs.

"Further," produced by Teton Gravity Research, is an extreme snowboard and ski film that captures the essence of new-school jibers and big mountain rippers. It represents the new faction of hardcore adrenaline athletes.

"Xtra Cycle: Selling the Revolution," produced by Liz McGregor of Boondocs Film and Video, is a short, homespun documentary that covers the two visionaries behind "Xtra cycle" and the "Free Radical".

"New World Disorder," produced by Derek Westerland of Matchstick Productions, is a segment from a brand-new mountain biking film covering state-of-the-art riding and some one-wheeled madness that will leave viewers wondering how they do it.

"Nurpu," produced by Teton Gravity Research, features expedition kayaking in the Himalayas, South America, North America and more.

"September Sessions," produced by Jack Johnson and Kelly Slater, is an epic surf film that brings a handful of the world's best surfers to the fabled waters of Western Sumatra.

"Ghetto Blaster," produced by Focusing Point Projects, features skateboarders who ply their talent, humor and skills on the streets of Boulder, Colo.

"Stream Skiing," produced by Scott Gaffney of E-Media Films and Matchstick Productions, is a spoof on the world of extreme skiing.

"Ski Movie," produced by Steve Winter, Murray Wais and Scott Gaffney of Matchstick Productions, is a teaser from this extreme ski film voted best ski movie of the year by Powder Magazine, Skiing Magazine and Freeze.

"Clearcut and Second Wind," produced by Treetop Film Productions, features extreme snowboarding and snowmobiling footage from the Great White North.
