"EXPERIENCE THE WORLD" AT INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL AT BOISE STATE
Exotic foods and international performance groups at the Boise State University International Food, Song and Dance festival will highlight a three-day celebration of diverse cultures. The festival, themed "Experience the World," will be held from 6-9 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, in the Boise State University Student Union Jordan Ballroom.
The event organizers, the Boise State International Student Association, recommend purchasing tickets for the Friday night festival by Feb. 1, although tickets will still be available at the door. Two cultural events earlier in the week, sponsored by the Boise State Multi-Cultural Center, are free and open to the public. Here is the schedule:
Wednesday, Jan. 31
There will be an international craft booth in the Student Union, teaching and demonstrating origami and Polish embroidery, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Thursday, Feb. 1
There will be a foreign film, "Race the Red Lantern," in Mandarin Chinese with English subtitles, at 7 p.m. in the Student Union Bergquist Lounge.
Saturday, Feb. 3
"Experience the World" international food, song and dance festival will feature performances by Latin-American dancers, African drummers and dancers, Spanish flamenco dancers, Vietnamese dancers and Middle-Eastern belly dancers. The menu will include Thai chicken satay, Bangladesh beef rezala, won tons, European cheeses, Brazilian brigaderios (chocolate balls) and much more.
Tickets are $14 general admission, $8 students and $6 for children 12 and under, and may be purchased at Select-a-Seat outlets or by contacting 426-1766 or www.idahotickets.com. A table seating eight may be reserved for $100 by contacting the Boise State International Programs office at 426-3652.
