BOISE STATE HOSTS SECOND ANNUAL SAFETY AWARENESS DAY

Believing that education is the key to a safe environment, Boise State University’s Office of Risk Management and Audit Services is again sponsoring a free safety awareness fair on Friday, Feb. 16, which Boise State President Charles Ruch has declared "Safety Awareness Day."

The fair, which runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in The Pavilion, will feature informational booths, vendor displays, games, workshops and safety equipment or vehicles from the following agencies and programs: Life Flight helicopter, Boise Fire Department, Ada County Sheriff, Boise Police Department, U.S. Department of Labor, Idaho Power, remote control forklift races, bomb disposal robot, occupational safety and health information, safety supply distributors, Hazardous Materials Response, public safety and water safety. The day is geared toward adults and children from the Boise State community and the general public.

Workshops are designed to address all facets of life, from safety at home to managing road rage. Topics include personal safety, workplace violence, family disaster plans, electrical hazards, use of chemical products and workplace ergonomics.

In addition, a mock emergency response training will be held from 3-5 p.m. in The Pavilion Blue Room. The training involves tabletop exercises demonstrating Boise State’s Emergency Response Plan utilizing a realistic scenario.
