PERCUSSIONIST BLAKE TYSON WILL BE FEATURED ARTIST AT BOISE STATE
Percussionist Blake Tyson will present a guest recital at 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 4, in the Morrison Center Recital Hall. Tyson will perform works for solo percussion by composers from Egypt, Japan, Africa and the United States. The concert will include the world premiere of "Fabric of Time" for solo oboe, with viola and percussion, which Tyson composed for oboist Jeanne Belfy, a Boise State music professor. Boise State faculty violist Linda Kline Lamar will complete the trio.
Tyson will perform his newly composed work for solo marimba, "Anubis." Flutist Liana Tyson will be featured on the Idaho premiere of "Hot Water, Burn Baby" by Roshanne Etezady. Blake Tyson will also present a solo work for the derabucca, an Egyptian hand drum.
The recital is presented by the Boise State music department. Tickets, available at the door, are $5 general admission, $3 seniors and free to all students and Boise State faculty and staff. Call 426-3980 for more information.
