ARBITER WINS NATIONAL AWARDS; GENERAL MANAGER NAMED TO BOARD POSITION
The Arbiter, Boise State University’s student newspaper, won two national awards from the College Newspaper Advertising and Business Manager (CNBAM) Association at the organization’s annual conference in Baltimore earlier this month.
In addition, Arbiter general manager Brad Arendt was elected vice president of awards for CNBAM and will supervise the award process at the association’s 2002 conference in Denver.
For the second year in a row, The Arbiter won first place in the Best Display Advertisement, Full Color category. The Boise State paper also won first place in the Best House Promotional Campaign for a series of advertisements promoting its online edition of the newspaper.
“These awards show the incredible talent here at Boise State, especially when you consider our graphic artists were competing against the best college newspapers in the country,” said Arendt.
CNBAM is an organization made up of more than 150 college newspapers nationwide.
Arendt is a 1988 graduate of Havre High School and graduated from Boise State in 1999 with degrees in finance and economics. Before being named The Arbiter’s first full-time general manager last year, he served two years as the paper’s student business manager.
Arendt is the son of Sandra and Gary Staudinger of Havre, Mont., and Curt Arendt of Butte, Mont.
