Ten members of the Boise State University debate
and speech team were named to the 2001-2002 Division I All-Conference team
announced by the Northwest Forensic Conference Sept. 5.
Three Boise State seniors were named to the
Division I First Team:
Imran Ali (Eagle)
was named to the All-Conference team for the third consecutive season. Ali
graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in political science in May and is
currently attending law school at the University of Minnesota.
Christy Bowman (Twin
Falls) was named to the First Team for the third time. Her first two All-NFC
awards were earned at the College of Southern Idaho. Bowman transferred to Boise
State for her senior season and now is completing her bachelor of arts in
political science and serving as an assistant coach for the Boise State debate
team.
Misti Rutledge (Twin
Falls) graduated in May with a bachelor of arts in psychology and is now serving
an internship in Boston, Mass. She also received All-Conference honors in
1999-2000.
Boise State also landed two members on the
All-Conference Second Team:
Nancy Henke (Boise)
was named to the Second Team in her first season of competition, the highest
honor for which first-year competitors are eligible. Henke is a junior majoring
in history.
Ken Rock (Coeur
d'Alene) received All-Conference recognition for the third time. A senior
majoring in political science, he currently serves as Boise State’s student
body vice president.
Receiving All-Conference Honorable Mention
recognition were five first-year competitors:
Patrick Connor (Boise)
a senior communication education major.
Kristin Davidson (Meridian)
a freshman criminal justice major.
Nancy Greenway (Caldwell)
a senior communication education major.
Blake Lingle (Boise)
a junior chemistry and business major.
Nate Peterson
(Pocatello) who graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in political science in
May. Peterson served two terms as Boise State’s student body president.
Boise State is the only Idaho college that
competes at the Division I level in the Northwest Forensics Conference, an
affiliation of 42 two- and four-year institutions of higher education in
Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana and Alaska. Albertson College, BYU-Idaho,
Lewis-Clark State College and Northwest Nazarene University compete in Division
II, while the College of Southern Idaho is a Division III school.
The Talkin’ Broncos’10 all-conference
selections are particularly impressive as only 17 member of the Boise State team
were eligible for the honor, and because the team attended only two of the three
NFC Conference Tournaments last season.
Six of Boise State’s 10 All-NFC award
recipients - Rock, Henke, Connor, Davidson, Greenway and Lingle - return for the
2002-03 season, which begins in three weeks at the College of Southern Idaho’s
Golden Eagle Invitational.
