The Boise State University Alumni Juried Art Exhibit will open with a reception at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4 at the Student Union Gallery. The exhibition of works by alumni from around the region runs Oct. 4-31.

The opening reception will be held in conjunction with closing receptions for exhibitions at the Boise State Visual Arts Center galleries honoring the late George F. Roberts, a pioneer in non-toxic printmaking and a longtime professor at Boise State. A retrospective exhibition of prints by Roberts has been running in Gallery 2 in the Hemingway Center. Gallery 1 in the Liberal Arts Building currently features an exhibition of works by outstanding Boise State graduates who studied with Roberts. Both galleries will host closing receptions on that same evening.

Refreshments will be provided, and the receptions are free and open to everyone.

At the Student Union exhibition, the following alumni were selected to exhibit works: Paula Burry, Boise; Michele Chmielewski, Coeur d'Alene; Karen Cranney, Boise; Dave Fackrell, Mountain Home; Kristen M. Furlong, Boise; Helen Grainger Wilson, Potlatch, Idaho; Suzanne Lee, Boise; Francie Loveall, Boise; Sandy Marostica, Boise; Jim McGarvey, Boise; John M. Nettleton, Corvallis, Ore.; Bonnie Peacher, Boise; Cynthia C. Salu, Boise; Shannon Traver, Boise David H. Tyler, Eagle; Raylene Ward, Richfield, Idaho; Rolphe E. White, McCall; Sue Wilson, Boise; and Ann Winters, Boise.

The George F. Roberts Alumni Invitational exhibition in Gallery 1 features works by: Kat Galloway, instructor of art at Eastern Oregon University; Scott Kolbo, assistant professor at Whitworth College; Holly Gilcrist, former instructor of art at Texas Wesleyan University; and Kirsten Furlong, recent master of fine arts graduate and instructor of art at Boise State.

The exhibition of Roberts’ work in Gallery 2 features a large selection of drawings, paintings, prints and mixed media. Roberts mentored countless students for 31 years and revolutionized printmaking through the development of non-toxic methodology. He recently published a book outlining his processes and techniques.

The Student Union Gallery, located on the second floor of the Student Union, is open 7 a.m.-11 p.m. daily. The Visual Arts Center galleries are open 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday and noon-5 p.m. Saturday. Admission to all galleries is free.

Parking on the evening of the receptions will be available in the Student Union parking lot and the reserved "LA" lot behind the Liberal Arts Building.
