The Osiris Trio from The Netherlands will open
the Boise Chamber Music Series, presented by the Boise Chamber Music Society and
the Boise State University music department, at 8 p.m., Friday, Oct. 11, in the
Morrison Center Recital Hall. Tickets are $15 general admission and $10 for
students and seniors. For tickets or additional information, please call Jeanne
Belfy at 426-1216.
The Osiris Trio was formed in 1988 and still
consists of the original artists: pianist Ellen Corver, violinist Peter Brunt
and cellist Larissa Groeneveld. They will perform Beethoven’s "Ghost
Trio," Frank Martin’s "Trio on Irish Folk Songs," and
Shostakovich’s expressively emotional "Op. 67."
The Osiris Trio has performed all over Europe and
South Africa and made their Carnegie Hall debut in 1997. Paul Griffiths of The
New York Times described their performance in July of 2000 as possessing
"edgy brilliance . . . largeness in every musical dimension of color,
dynamic range and expression." The prize-winning trio records on the
Channel Classics label, with CDs featuring Beethoven, Dvorák and Charles Ives.
