CLASSIC PERFORMANCES CONTINUES WITH PIANIST XIAOHAN WANG

Pianist Xiaohan Wang continues the 2002-03 Classic Performances series at 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, at the Boise State University Special Events Center. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for seniors, students 17 and under and Boise State students, faculty, staff and alumni, at Select-a-Seat outlets, 426-1494 or www.idahotickets.com. Tickets will also be available at the Special Events Center box office the night of the performance.

Additionally, on Friday, Oct. 25, Wang will give a free master class at 2 p.m. in the Morrison Center Recital Hall.

Wang entered the pre-college division of the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing at the age of 10. A prizewinner in several regional and national competitions in China, he took third prize at the 1997 ARD Competition in Munich, his first international competition. Now 20, Wang has performed extensively throughout his native country, both in recital and with orchestra, and has performed recitals and given master classes in Germany, Japan and the United States. As a finalist of the Eleventh Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, Wang was awarded two years of concert engagements and career management services through the Van Cliburn Foundation.

The concert is presented by the Boise State Student Union. The Classic Performances Series is designed by students to bring to campus musicians who represent an eclectic blend of tradition and today. For more information call 426-1223.
