HIGH SCHOOL ORCHESTRA FESTIVAL PRESENTS FREE CONCERT

More than 200 high school musicians from area schools will cap the two-day Boise State University Biennial High School Orchestra Festival with a free concert at 4 p.m. Nov. 8 at the Morrison Center Main Hall.

Participating high schools include Eagle, Meridian, Timberline, Borah, Caldwell, Boise, Capital and Centennial.

The performance will open with a brass and percussion ensemble playing Percy Grainger’s "The Duke of Marlborough" fanfare. Other works on the program include "Capriol Suite for Strings" by Peter Warlock, "English Folk Song Suite" by R. Vaughan Williams, and Grainger’s "Irish Tune From County Derry (Danny Boy)" and "Shepherd’s Hey."

The festival is directed by Boise State music professor Craig Purdy. For more information call 426-3980.
