The Boise premiere of snowboard adventure films "The Prophecy," by Teton Gravity Research, and "Afterbang," by Robot Food Productions is scheduled for 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8 at the 8th Street Marketplace Theatre. The evening will also feature giveaways, door prizes, a raffle and a post-film party on the 8th Street Marketplace patio with musical group A Frame of Mind. This event is presented by Boise State University’s Student Programs Board and Outdoor Center.

"The Prophecy," a 60-minute film, takes a glimpse into the future of riding. The disciplines of big mountain skiing and snowboarding have precipitated the next major phase in the progression of riding. Visionaries of the revolution, Jeremy Jones, Micah Black and Kent Kreitler, add freestyle to their big mountain repertoire. Unknowns Sage Cattabrig’Alosa and Marc Andre Belliveau incorporate big mountain into their freestyle game. Legend Scot Schmidt examines the state of the sport as he leads a tour around Island Lake Lodge. Wonder kid Travis Rice shows why the freestyle snowboard world has its eyes on him. This progressive production was filmed on location in Slovakia, Alaska, Bella Coola, Andorra, Island Lake, Tahoe, Jackson Hole, Utah, Mammoth and Mt. Hood. For more details, go to www.tetongravity.com.

"Afterbang," at 35 minutes, is a new epic saga depicting the adventures of a talented group of athletes who have the vision to portray the fun and creative side of snowboarding. Robot Food Productions created "Afterbang" to offer the viewer a fresh and honest look at what snowboarding means to a group of select hardcore riders. The producers feel typical snowboard films have regressed into a slump of predictable and numbing flicks cut to the same mold year after year. "Afterbang" seeks to free viewers from the doldrums.

Additional event sponsors include Rossignol, Burton, Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, Smith Sport Optics, Dynastar, The North Face, Tecnica/Völkl, Boeri Helmets, Yolo Sports, Salomon, POWDER magazine, Newt & Harolds and Skiershop.com.

Tickets are $8 general admission and $5 for Boise State students, available from the Boise State Student Union Information Desk and Outdoor Center and from Yolo Sports and Newt and Harold’s. Tickets are also available at the 8th Street Marketplace Theatre box office the night of the show.
