PROGRAM SEEKS DONATIONS FOR ‘COMMUNITY BABY
SHOWER’ NOV. 9
Donations of infant-care items are being sought for a
"Community Baby Shower" at the Open Arms Baby Boutique in Nampa from
10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Nov. 9.
The Open Arms Baby Boutique, a wellness incentive program
that provides prenatal health-care education and baby-care items for low-income
families, is located at Grace Episcopal Church in Nampa, 911 Fourth S.
Items collected from the shower will be gathered by
volunteers from the Girl Scouts, Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center and the
Boise State Student Nurse Association and distributed to the Open Arms Baby
Boutique as well as the Baby Steps child-care facility at St. Michael’s
Episcopal Church and the Booth Family Care Center in Boise.
Donations to the shower may also be dropped off at area
Wal-Mart stores, Karcher Mall in Nampa and the Idaho Migrant Council in
Caldwell. Items sought include diapers, books, maternity clothes, cribs and
strollers.
The Open Arms Baby Boutique is sponsored by the March of
Dimes, the Boise State nursing department and other community partners. Assisted
by area health-care providers, the program serves more than 200 families. Many
of the clients are Spanish-speaking, teen parents, or have several children.
Since the program’s inception, Boise State nursing
students have worked with the staff and volunteers at the Boutique.
The Boutique provides its services on Wednesdays from 4-6
and Saturdays from 10-noon.
