TAEKWONDO CHAMPIONSHIP TO ‘HIT’ BOISE STATE
More than 200 competitors, ranging from children to senior
citizens, are expected at the 2002 Boise State University Open Taekwondo
Championships from 7:30 a.m.-6 p.m. on November 9 in the Student Union Jordan
Ballroom. The competition is sponsored by the Boise State Taekwondo Club, and
Boise State athletes will be organizing, running and competing in the event.
Competitors will demonstrate their sparring skills and be
judged in traditional Taekwondo forms. The competition is governed by the rules
of and sanctioned by the United States Taekwondo Union, the exclusive Taekwondo
organization recognized by the United States Olympic Committee. Taekwondo made
its debut as an Olympic sport at the 2000 Summer Games in Sydney, Australia.
Participants may check in at 7:30 a.m. Competition will
begin at 9:30 a.m. with Black Belt sparring scheduled at 12:30 p.m.
Tickets, available at the door, are $3 general admission
and $2 for students, children and seniors. For more information call 344-8990
