Boise State University graphic design students
Nicole Lapidus and Karen Smith, both from the Treasure Valley, recently won a
$1,000 scholarship contest sponsored by Journal Broadcast Group. Journal
Broadcast Group owns radio stations 100.3 the X, 94.9 the River, J105, Star
107.1, 1140AM KGEM and 1490 AM.
The scholarship went to the winning students for
designing and painting a mural 56.5 feet long by 93 inches high for the new
Journal Broadcast Group studio facilities at 5257 Fairveiw Ave. The theme for
the mural was based on the Boise music scene and broadcasting.
Lapidus and Smith both expressed that it was a
challenging project, which due to scheduling issues needed to be completed
within a week. The mural will be seen by those who come to the studio for
interviews and studio performances and by local residents and visitors to the
Treasure Valley.
Lapidus, the daughter of Eliot and Bonnie Lapidus,
is a 1998 graduate of Centennial High School. Smith is a Boise resident.
