"Children of Children: Portraits and Stories
of Teenage Parents," an exhibition by Michael Nye, will run Oct. 11-Nov. 4
at the Boise State University Visual Arts Center Gallery 2, in the Hemingway
Center.
On display Oct. 18-Nov. 8 at Gallery 1, in the
Liberal Arts Building, will be Glenda Connolly’s master of art in art
education thesis exhibition. An opening reception for Connolly’s exhibition
will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 18.
Admission to the reception and the galleries is
free. The Visual Arts Center galleries are open 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through
Friday and noon-5 p.m. Saturday.
Nye’s traveling exhibition presents 50
photographic portraits and audio stories of men and women who range from age 12
to 100. They either are currently teenage parents or at one time were teenage
parents. The project’s intention is not to condemn, condone or romanticize
teenage pregnancy, but to explore the context of young pregnancy and parenting
in our society.
The "Children of Children" exhibition
is sponsored by the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare, Bureau of Health
Promotion, Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Program and community partners.
